Monuments of Praiano
- San Luca Evangelista Church: this church is dedicated
to Saint Luke the Evangelist, the Patron of Praiano, in
Baroque style. The floor is made with XVIII century majolica.
Inside there are several wood and silver statues, for example
the bust of Saint Luke. There are also some paintings of
Neapolitan School.
- Marina di Praia: a beautiful beach situated at the end
of a valley, among tall rocks. It is protected by the promontory
of Capo Sottile and an ancient tower. In the past it was
the port of the ancient Praiano. Today boat trips leave
from there and bring tourists to the most charming places
of the coast, such as the caves of Suppraiano and Africana
- Suppraiano Cave: a spectacular natural cave with stalactites
and falls. The cave can be only reached by sea
- Africana Cave: a charming natural cave near the famous
night club Africana, a club created among the rocks.
- San Gennaro Church: a sacred building in Vettica Maggiore,
a hamlet of Praiano, built in 1602 a.C. on a former church.
The dome is covered by majolica and inside there are precious
paintings.
- Grado Tower: a tower that belonged to the ancient system
of sighting towers that defended the coast from Saracens.
- Gavitella Beach: this beach is different from the other
beaches of Amalfi Coast. From there you can enjoy a wonderful
view of Capri and Positano; swimming you can reach the
beautiful beach delle Praie and you can dive in the so-called
Fontana dell'altare, a natural “swimming pool” in
a cave
- Shrines: small chapels built by the inhabitants of Praiano
everywhere on the territory. They are decorated by majolica
and frescoes and show the deep spirituality of these places
- Santa Maria a Castro Church: a charming church that belonged
to San Domenico monastery, situated on S. Angelo a tre
Pizzi Mountain, perfectly immersed in the surrounding environment.
It dominates the valley and offers a wonderful view of
Positano, Capri, and Vettica Maggiore.
- Paths: the harsh territory of Praiano
offers many paths or staircases that lead the tourists
to charming places with wonderful panoramas, that represent
a real paradise for trekking lovers. The lack of roads
protected this uncontaminated nature from the aggressions
of tourists.
