Luminaria
di San Domenico from July 30 to August 4, 2011, Praiano - Amalfi
Coast
Also this year Praiano renews the spell of the event ‘Luminaria
di San Domenico’. The celebration of this event is linked to
a gastronomic feast by the rediscovery and appreciation of food,
local products and entertainment centered on the theme of fire. The
2011 edition will open Saturday, July 30 with an extraordinary spectacle
by the Compagnia dei Folli (Company of Fools). This year is celebrating
150 years of the unification of Italy, and the ‘Luminaria’ will
celebrate the event with a special evening, ‘Tricolore’.

Salerno Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Park of Monti Lattari -

In the days of the ‘Luminaria’, Praiano appears in a
new light: thousands of candles and torches are lit at sunset along
the streets and squares of the small village; all people will adorn
their terraces, windows and roofs of their homes, with small lanterns
while the younger will adorn the tiled floor of the Piazza San Gennaro,
in the hamlet of Vettica Maggiore, with candles.
